About Us

This blog is a collaborative initiative led by Dr. Lilantha Wedisinghe and a dedicated group of doctors from Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, UK and USA who are passionate about making trustworthy, easy-to-understand healthcare information available to everyone in our country.

Our Story

Our journey began with a simple yet powerful vision: to make accurate and practical healthcare knowledge accessible to all Sri Lankans, especially in Sinhala and Tamil – the languages closest to our people’s hearts. Led by Dr. Lilantha Wedisinghe, a Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Australia, our team comprises over 100 doctors and medical professionals based in Sri Lanka, Australia, and the UK.

Our Vision

To build a healthier, more informed Sri Lanka by breaking language and accessibility barriers in healthcare education.

Our Mission

We are a group of medical professionals here to support you in achieving that. We aim to help people worldwide by educating them on preventing many necessary health conditions. We make this concise scientific medical evidence available in your language. We carefully reviewed the content developed to make sure that the information presented to you is current, relevant, and reliable. We hope that you will make the best use of this information to live a healthier life.

We dedicate this to our friends and family members who passed away prematurely due to preventable health conditions. None of us has any conflict of interest in this voluntary mission. We do this for not-for-profit and non-commercial purposes.

Professional Content Curation

All content was drafted based on essential information, selected and structured by professionals.

Multi Source Verification

The compiled material was cross-referenced with multiple authoritative data sources.

Medical Expert Review

Each condition-specific section was reviewed by at least 20 medical doctors before translation.

Language Accuracy Validation

Translations into Sinhala and Tamil were proofread by three individuals, including two medical doctors, to ensure accuracy before publication.

Methods Used

Our content has been developed using a combination of professional expertise and Generative AI technology, guided by trusted sources such as the NHS-UK, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organisation (WHO), which are the most comprehensive and reliable health databases on disease prevention. The CDC allows public use of its educational materials, which we have adapted into clear, concise summaries for easier understanding.

Disclaimer

All data found here is for informational purposes only. Whilst utmost care was taken to ensure the accuracy of the information, we hold no responsibility for that. Principles of disease prevention generally do not change (unless there is a new condition, like COVID-19). Therefore, most of the information on prevention should remain valid for decades.
While these measures can help reduce risk, they do not guarantee complete disease prevention. Always discuss any concerns about preventative measures with your healthcare provider (doctor or nurse). What works best for one person may not work for another. Your doctor can help you develop a personalised plan.

Acknowledgements

Our special thanks go to all authors of the referenced content. Such content has been developed based on the scientific evidence published by tens of thousands of authors in the world.
We thank all scientific editors, translators and technical editors for their hard work. We also thank our employers, patients, colleagues and families without whom this journey wouldn’t have been possible. We thank our future readership, who will use this information in making a difference to themselves, their friends and families.
